HOPING TO GO ABROAD TO TRAIN FUTHER IN ATHLETICS
I am an athlete who has represented Maharashtra for the last 10years in the 100, 200 and
400mtrs run..I am a gold medalist in the 200mtrs at the All India ICSE school Nationals
and Bronze medalist at the Open National Meets.. I aspire to train further so that I can
be a part of the Indian team at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October 2010.
And Asian Games in Macau in November 2010.. To achieve this goal I need to train
at different tracks in different climatic conditions in India and abroad. Trained under
the greats like Mr. Savio D’souza, Mrs. Rachita Mistry (who represented India in the
100mtrs at the Sydney Olympics in the year 2000) and now going to train under an
Australian coach called Gavin Fernandes, and helped by physiotherapist John Gloster..
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO:
I want to be a part of the Indian team.. I aim to be a part of the Indian contingent at the
2012 Olympics in London. But with the kind off facilities and weather conditions in India
it is tough to achieve my targets. I am now training in Poona where all the facilities are
available and the government has granted me special permission to train on those tracks
at Balewadi Sports Complex.. But I want to do better for myself and my country; hence
I want to get myself trained better outside India. I am going to Australia in March and
April for further training before the Commonwealth Games trials start in May. I have also
got an offer from Spain, Barcelona. To go there for a month and train.. But with very less
funds in my hand I cannot go anywhere..
WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO IT:
I have been in this field for the last 10 years.. My parents have really put in a lot of
effort behind me for so many years. They have helped me financially as much as they
could.. They are now growing old and I don’t wish to burden them any further.. I know
I can achieve my dreams one day.. I just need the right guidance and support from my
surroundings. I want to represent my country and be the 1st Parsee girl to represent India
in the Athletics discipline. And I know I CAN DO IT. I have suffered many injuries
in the last 2 years because of which I could not compete in many competitions. But
thankfully because of my physio John Gloster I am now much better, fitter and stronger.
HOW WILL I DO IT:
Well the only answer I have to this is, that I will definitely put in a lot of hard work. It is
something I have been doing for the past many years and will continue to do so.. With the
help of Gavin Fernandez who is a very well known coach and physiotherapist in Sydney.
The training will be held in Home Bush Olympic stadium in Sydney. One of the Best in
the world.
BUDGET:
For the next 2 months I my expenditure will come up to Rs.1,80,000. Which includes my
stay, travel and food..
Looking forward for a very very positive reply from you’ll..
Thank-you.
